About Jaya Priya and Jessica
Jessica made her first trip to India in 2003 to work at Hope Village Orphanage in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. She had recently graduated from college and wanted the opportunity to serve and give 100% of her time and energy to something greater. As with many ventures of this sort, she was the one who seemed to do all the receiving. When she returned to the US three and half months later her whole life's perspective completely changed.
Since her first journey Jessica has made four more trips to India. On the second trip she took her brave mother to work at a cancer hospital in Andhra Pradesh and tour Kerala. In 2008 Jessica made her third trip to India touring the north and south collecting artwork for her non-profit organization, in 2010 Jessica visited the Little Hearts orphanage in Nellore, and in 2011 she created Journey India, and led a three week tour across the south and north. Once you have met Jessica you will find that it only takes a short time before stories of India sneak into her conversations.
"I have once compared India to a very intuitive doctor who, once you step foot on her soil, begins to write you a prescription for what your life needs. Funny, that it isn't what you usually expect, much less what you think you want. However, before you know it you'll be wishing for another trip and another chance to be on that soil getting your prescription filled." Along with heeding her many calls to India, Jessica is also a Kundalini Yoga teacher, certified Art and Exceptional Student Education teacher, an artist, and the founder and director of Beyond Measure Arts (beyondmeasurearts.org).

Jaya Priya was born and raised on Kashi Ashram in Sebastian, Florida. She recently completed her Masters Degree in Geography during which she studied and researched intentional communities in India and the United States. Specifically, Jaya Priya spent three months in India researching a community called Auroville and traveling various parts of the country. During her travels, Jaya Priya's passion for exploring the people and places of India blossomed as she recognized the abundance of growth and learning that she was presented with on a daily basis. At the completion of her journey, Jaya Priya reflected on the incredible expanse of history, culture, religion, and landscapes that were left to explore. She determined to return to India again, this time with a new agenda: to share the diversity, joy, and eye-opening experiences of India with others. It is her hope that her own experiences - combined with Jessica's - will together offer fellow travelers with a diverse, intimate, and meaningful look into a country so rich with opportunities to celebrate all sides of life.
